There are many reasons to use slate for roof covering: It’s wind, hail and frost resistant, it’s waterproof, it has a remarkable insulating quality, there are almost no costs for the upkeep and it has a long-term resistance as all the historical Ligurian buildings show. Please click on the type of covering you are interested in to get further information Types of fixing: “Genovese style”: direct fixing of tiles on concrete filling or boarding, using cementing mortar and nails “By hooks”: fixing the tiles with stainless steel or copper hook (diameter 3 mm.) on wooden listel (3x4 cm.). Framework with variable pitch (in distance between the centres) in relation to the type of overlap you want to adopt (double or triple). This type of fixing is undoubtedly the most modern, functional and it is recommended in particular not only for the ease in assembling but also for the easy interchangeability of tiles, for any repairs and partial refacing. “By nail”: direct fixing of the tiles onto the top layer in brick or onto boarding by use of stainless steel nail or zinc-coated iron nail with wide head. |
