Pietra PIASENTINA

Installation

Tile adhesives and cement mortar can be used to lay Pietra Piasentina. Always check the properties and methods of use of the adhesives, the cement mortar and the sealants used with Pietra Piasentina and observe the design specifi cations.

Being a natural product, Pietra Piasentina may have varying grain size and colour and texture characteristics that may randomly include, on a generally grey background, white veins as well as brownish-red shades or areas.

Thus the colour differences are not to be seen as fl aws in the material. Therefore, before their installation, it is advisable to lay some panels of Pietra Piasentina on the ground, even from different pallets in case of large quantities, and to always handle the product with care to avoid chipping the corners, and not mark it with indelible products.

The user is also urged to promptly clean the slabs after laying them and not allow the adhesives and sealants used to dry on the surface nor remove excess mortar or sealants with metal tools o abrasive brushes.

The user is urged to always make sure that the material matches exactly the order. Any complaints or disputes shall be reported by registered letter before the installation of the material and in any case within the terms required by the law, otherwise rights will be forfeited.

IMPORTANT

The polished and honed fi nishes, being smooth and slippery, are not suitable for exterior paving purposes; moreover, if these fi nishes are applied externally, it is not possible to guarantee a long-lasting shine, especially in climatic conditions of frequent sunlight and air pollution.

The initial slipperiness tests carried out on the type of surface fi nish provide a value that applies to “new slabs”; therefore, based on the conditions of application, the customer will have to verify and when necessary properly maintain the laid product so as to keep the material in a safe slip-proof condition.

To restore the initial values of resistance to slipping, have the material examined by experts, who may determine to subject the material to mechanical or other types of processes.

Depending on the application, and on the type of fi nish chosen to suit the place where the   material is to be laid (for example bathrooms, kitchens, etc.), it is also advisable to determine whether to carry out, again by specialists, a protective antistain treatment of the water-repellent type.
